Summary

DaDo Kitten Chicken is a complete dry food formulated to support the growth and development of kittens from 1 month to 12 months of age, as well as the increased nutritional demands of pregnant and lactating queens.
The first ingredient, dehydrated chicken, provides a concentrated and highly digestible source of animal protein essential for muscle development and overall growth in young cats.
With a high crude protein content of 36% and 19% fat, the formula delivers the energy density and amino acid profile required for rapid growth, immune development, and tissue repair.
Chicken oil and microencapsulated fish oil contribute essential fatty acids, including DHA at 0.17%, which plays a critical role in brain and vision development during early life stages.
Dehydrated salmon, egg, and hydrolyzed fish proteins enhance the amino acid diversity and palatability, supporting both nutritional adequacy and appetite stimulation in kittens.
Chicory pulp and mannan-oligosaccharides (600 mg/kg) act as prebiotics, promoting a healthy gut microbiota and improving digestive efficiency during the transition from milk to solid food.
Dehydrated red fruits, hibiscus, wild rose, and grape extract provide natural antioxidants, including polyphenols, which help protect developing cells from oxidative stress.
The mineral profile, including calcium at 1.5% and phosphorus at 1.1%, supports proper skeletal development, while magnesium at 0.09% helps maintain urinary health.
Brewer’s yeast and yeast extract provide B vitamins and nucleotides that support immune function and cellular growth.
With a metabolizable energy of 3990 kcal/kg, the formula meets the high caloric needs of growing kittens and reproducing females without excessive volume intake.

3

Prebiotic support

Chicory pulp and mannan-oligosaccharides promote healthy gut flora and digestive adaptation in young cats.
4

Antioxidant-rich botanicals

Red fruits, grape extract, and herbs provide polyphenols that help protect developing cells from oxidative damage.
5

Balanced mineral profile

Calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium levels support bone growth and urinary health.
Cons
Expand All
1

Contains corn and corn gluten

These plant-based ingredients increase carbohydrate content and may not suit owners seeking grain-free or low-carb diets.
2

Moderate ash content

At 7.5%, the ash level may be high for kittens with early urinary sensitivities or predisposition to crystal formation.
3

Use of animal protein extracts

These are less transparent in origin and quality compared to whole meat sources, which may concern ingredient-conscious consumers.
4

Limited omega-6 data

The omega-6 content is not specified, making it difficult to assess the full fatty acid balance, which is critical for skin and coat health.

How the score is calculated?

The actual calculation of the score is based on sophisticated and advanced algorithm that takes into account multiple parameters.

To simplify the explanation, the calculation is based on three main criteria:

(1) Amount of protein (more is better)

(2) Amount of carbohydrates (less is better)

(3) Quality and source of ingredients.

Based on that 3 main criteria, 9 score calculation rules are used to compare the different foods.

One major assumption is that the closer an ingredient is to the top of the ingredient list, the greater its relative weight and contribution to the food.

In general, cat food is composed of protein, fats, carbohydrates, fibers, vitamins, and minerals.

Protein is the most important component in a cat's diet, and cats primarily get their protein from animal meat.

Fat is a primary source of energy and essential fatty acids.

Carbohydrates are controversial in a cat's diet, as cats are obligate carnivores and typically consume very few carbohydrates.

Fibers play an important role in digestion and food absorption, and vitamins and minerals are essential for different organism functions.

Dry matter values are used to compare the amount of nutrients in different cat foods. This means that moisture is excluded from the equation to provide a more accurate comparison.

Putting all of these and more into a formula results in a product score.

The maximum score a cat food can receive is 100. Points are added or removed based on the score calculation rules.
