Summary

Quattro Kitten is a super premium dry food formulated specifically for kittens up to 12 months of age, designed to support rapid growth, immune development, and cognitive function during the most critical stage of feline development.
The first ingredient is poultry, including 29% poultry meat meal and 10% dried poultry protein, providing a highly digestible and concentrated source of animal-based protein essential for muscle development and tissue repair in growing kittens.
With 36% crude protein and 19% fat, the formula delivers a high energy density that meets the elevated caloric demands of kittens during their active growth and play phases.
Salmon oil and linseed contribute omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA and EPA (0.07%), which are vital for brain development, learning ability, and visual acuity in young cats.
Vitamin E (480 mg/kg), rosemary extract, and tocopherols act as natural antioxidants, helping to protect developing cells from oxidative stress and supporting a robust immune system.
Prebiotics such as chicory inulin and mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS), along with dried beet pulp and cellulose, promote healthy gut flora, improve stool quality, and support digestive efficiency.
The inclusion of taurine (1000 mg/kg) supports heart health and vision, both of which are critical during early development.
Balanced mineral levels, including calcium (1.4%) and phosphorus (0.95%), help ensure proper bone growth and skeletal development.
Additional nutrients such as biotin, niacin, and zinc contribute to skin integrity and coat health, while iron and copper support red blood cell formation and oxygen transport.

Pros
Expand All
1

High animal protein content

85% of the protein is from animal sources, supporting optimal growth and muscle development in kittens.
2

Rich in essential fatty acids

Omega-3 (0.8%) and omega-6 (5.2%) fatty acids promote brain development, skin health, and a shiny coat.
3

Strong antioxidant support

High vitamin E content and rosemary extract help protect developing cells from oxidative damage.
4

Digestive health support

Prebiotics, beet pulp, and cellulose aid in maintaining a healthy gut microbiome and consistent stool quality.
5

Bone and skeletal development

Balanced calcium and phosphorus levels support proper bone mineralization during growth.
6

Cognitive and visual development

DHA and EPA from salmon oil contribute to brain function and visual acuity in young cats.
Cons
Expand All
1

High ash content

At 7.5%, the ash level is relatively elevated, which may be a concern for long-term kidney health if not balanced with adequate hydration.
2

Use of plant-based fillers

Ingredients like corn, barley, and maize gluten increase carbohydrate content, which may not align with a carnivore-optimized diet.
3

Limited taurine level for kittens

Taurine at 1000 mg/kg is adequate but could be higher to better support the rapid development of the heart and eyes in kittens.
4

Low DHA and EPA concentration

While present, the combined DHA+EPA level of 0.07% is modest and may limit the full cognitive benefits expected from omega-3 supplementation.
5

Unspecified moisture and energy values

Lack of declared metabolizable energy and moisture content makes it harder to assess daily feeding needs and hydration impact.

Provide as many details as possible about Quattro: Kitten so we can make it better!

How the score is calculated?

The actual calculation of the score is based on sophisticated and advanced algorithm that takes into account multiple parameters.

To simplify the explanation, the calculation is based on three main criteria:

(1) Amount of protein (more is better)

(2) Amount of carbohydrates (less is better)

(3) Quality and source of ingredients.

Based on that 3 main criteria, 9 score calculation rules are used to compare the different foods.

One major assumption is that the closer an ingredient is to the top of the ingredient list, the greater its relative weight and contribution to the food.

In general, cat food is composed of protein, fats, carbohydrates, fibers, vitamins, and minerals.

Protein is the most important component in a cat's diet, and cats primarily get their protein from animal meat.

Fat is a primary source of energy and essential fatty acids.

Carbohydrates are controversial in a cat's diet, as cats are obligate carnivores and typically consume very few carbohydrates.

Fibers play an important role in digestion and food absorption, and vitamins and minerals are essential for different organism functions.

Dry matter values are used to compare the amount of nutrients in different cat foods. This means that moisture is excluded from the equation to provide a more accurate comparison.

Putting all of these and more into a formula results in a product score.

The maximum score a cat food can receive is 100. Points are added or removed based on the score calculation rules.
